SEP-30-12 MOJO  NIXON & SKID ROPER made a triumphant return to the stage at the 2012 Adams Avenue Street Fair in San Diego, CA on September 30th. This is the first time they have been on stage together since November 12, 1989

San Diego Duo to reunite for 2012 Adam’s Ave Street Fair

“Come out and have a 1987 flashback. Bring the kids and let them see
why Mom and Dad are so weird.  There will be musical mayhem”, says
Mojo Nixon of his reunion with old partner Skid Roper.

The raucous San Diego duo formed in 1983 and played their first gig at
The Spirit Club on Buenos Ave in Bay Park.  They went on to release 5
albums between 1985 and 1989 that included hit college radio songs
such as “Stuffing Martha’s Muffin”, “Jesus At McDonalds” and “Burn
Down The Malls”.  The breakout success of the song “Elvis Is
Everywhere” in 1987 lead to the duo being a staple of 91X and other
alternative radio stations around the country and steady rotation on

“Maybe you heard us on the radio or saw us on MTV?  Maybe you made out
with one of us at a show?  Maybe you were conceived in the parking lot
behind Bodies after you Mom got excited watching me perform in a
dress?”, says Nixon of the many reasons to come see them perform.

After playing many hundreds of shows across the US, Canada, Europe and
Australia the duo parted ways in 1989 when both Mojo and Skid began
fronting their own full bands.  Nixon officially retired in 2004 but
occasional still performs with his band The Toadliquors.  “I am as bad
at retirement as I am at many other things.  Seemed like it might be
fun to play with Skid again.  And I have gotten so fat and old I
thought maybe I should sit down again when I play”, says Nixon.  “All
the mushroom maniacs should get ready cause I am breaking out the
sonic luv jug and plan to play all the mega-hits including “She Put  A
Louisiana Lip Lock On My Love Porkchop”, “I Hate Banks” and “She’s
Vibrator Dependent”.

Nixon spends his time as an on-air personality on multiple channels on
SiriusXMradio.  Roper still performs locally and his most recent album
“Rock And Roll Part 3” (on which Nixon plays bongos) was released in
2010. Both Nixon and Roper are longtime Southbay residents.  The
Adam’s Ave Street Fair show is the only planned performance for the

“I’ve been told it’s a family show and I can’t swear”, says Nixon.
“The linguistic gymnastics alone should be worth the price of admission.
Which is by the way –FREE!!!!!”

Mojo Nixon and Skip Roper will perform at the 2012 Adam’s Ave Street
Fair Sunday September 30th at 5:45pm on the Rosie’s Roots Stage @ 34th
Street in Normal Heights.  WARNING:  Attendees of this performance
should be in fair health, free from high blood pressure, sobriety,
